Itinerary
Douro
The Douro Valley is one of Portugal’s most iconic regions, stretching along the Douro River through dramatic hillsides of terraced vineyards. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, it is among the world’s oldest demarcated wine regions and has shaped Portugal’s wine culture for centuries. The Douro is best known for producing Port wine, as well as outstanding still wines, with many family-run estates (quintas) welcoming visitors for tastings and tours. Beyond wine, the valley offers unforgettable scenery—winding roads, river viewpoints, olive groves, and charming villages such as Peso da Régua and Pinhão, where traditional river life and vineyard culture still define the pace of the day. Whether explored by road, boat, or train, the Douro combines natural beauty, heritage, and authentic local hospitality in a truly memorable experience.
Coimbra

If you're in Coimbra, you should definitely try the Suckling pig of Bairrada. Or, if you're feeling more adventurous, you could try the "chanfana" – a dish typical from Coimbra. There are so many other amazing options in Coimbra, too – so don't miss out!
Coimbra is a university town in Portugal, and home to the Coimbra University. It is also known for its architecture, including its medieval university and the recently restored Manueline Palace.
Coimbra is known for its University, which is one of the oldest in Portugal and one of the oldest in Europe. Over time, this institution has shaped the city's image, which is now known as the "City of Students". It is also known for its architecture, including its medieval university and the recently restored Manueline Palace.
We begin our visit to the university founded in the XIIIth century, which UNESCO has listed as a World Heritage site. The university is a beautiful and impressive place, with a stunning view of the city from its tower. There is so much to see on the ground level too - such as the courtyard of the schools, the hall where important ceremonies are held, the chapel of São Miguel with an impressive Baroque organ, and the Joanine Library with more than 300,000 works dating from the 16th to the 18th centuries. The buildings occupy the place of the Palace where the first Kings of Portugal lived, when they made the city the capital of the kingdom.
Fátima

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary, commonly known as Sanctuary of Fátima, is located 120 kilometers north of Lisbon and is considered one of the largest Marian Shrines in the Catholic World.
The last apparition happened on October 13th at Cova da Iria, where an estimated croud of about 50 to 70 thousand people, witnessed a phenomenon that became famous as the “miracle of the Sun”. The place where on May 13, 1917, Our Lady appeared to three children of humble families who left the animals to graze and told them that she would return every month at the same time for the following six months and asked them to pray the Rosary every day. In the Shrine there´s a small part of the Berlin Wall, with the iron curtain fall, there were several blocks like this that appeared in several cities of the world, at the nascent entrance of the sanctuary there is one of these pieces, offered by a Portuguese emigrant living in Germany.
