About this tour
Duration: approx. 8 hours · Start times: 08:30, 09:00, 09:30 · Group size: up to 8 people (private)
Enjoy an unforgettable 8-hour private tour that combines royal history, fairy-tale palaces, dramatic Atlantic scenery, and the elegance of Portugal’s Riviera. Starting in Lisbon with hotel pick-up, you’ll begin with an optional visit to Queluz Palace, a stunning rococo residence tied to the dramatic moment when Napoleon’s invasion forced the Portuguese royal family to flee to Brazil—an episode that shaped both Portuguese and Brazilian history.
From there, head into the enchanting hills of Sintra, exploring the charming village center with its winding streets, local shops, and traditional pastries, before visiting the iconic Pena Palace, one of Europe’s most colorful and romantic landmarks. The day continues along the wild coastline to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where sweeping cliff views and the famous lighthouse create a true “edge of the world” moment.
Next, stop at Boca do Inferno, a dramatic sea-carved rock formation where Atlantic waves crash into a natural chasm, before arriving in Cascais, a beautiful seaside town once chosen by Portuguese royalty for summer retreats. Finish the day with a drive through elegant Estoril, known for its grand villas, WWII-era espionage stories, and the famous casino that inspired Ian Fleming—before returning comfortably to Lisbon along the coast.
Please note: Pena Palace uses a time-slot booking system, so entry times can sell out—especially in high season. When you choose “Tickets” at checkout, we will try to secure Pena Palace tickets for the most suitable available slot. If Pena Palace is sold out, we’ll arrange Quinta da Regaleira tickets as the alternative and your guide will adapt the route to keep the day smooth and enjoyable.
